What portion of my membership donation goes back to the community?
We commit 90% of the funds back to the community. Only 10% are used for administrative costs such as tax services.
How much must I contribute to join?
There are three individual levels and one business level for membership. How much you contribute is your choice. Every little bit helps. You can join with the minimum of $20. Come join us and help support a great dog community in South Lake Tahoe.
Is my contribution tax deductible?
Dawgs On The Run is a non-profit 501 (3) C Tax ID 45423291. Your contribution is tax deductible but we recommend you consult your certified public account for a specific answer to your personal tax circumstances.
What is the savings fund about?
A savings fund allows us to use this money to build a reserve and create long term financial stability for the programs.
How are the programs selected for funding?
Areas of funding focus are:
• Education • Nutrition • Training • Housing • Health and wellness • Other
Requests for proposals are sent out to the community and posted on our website.
After the proposals are received they are made available to the membership for voting.
The voting process is completed via e-mail.
The member selected grants are announced in the spring and awarded at our annual Black Tie Grant Award Gala (the dogs in formal wear).
Dog Food Assistance Program
An ongoing one time voucher program, which provides dog food in emergency situations to individuals who apply and are approved by the board. Due to the urgency of these cases, 10% of the funds are set aside to provide food quickly.
How much of my time will membership in Dawgs On the Run involve?
Members choose their level of involvement:
Do a little - Vote.
Do a little more - Attend our events.
Do even more - Volunteer.
What kind of events and activities are provided?
• Wag, Waddle & Walks are group gatherings scheduled throughout the year.
• Ask the Expert K9 Bliss animal behaviorist, Tammy Cowen, via e-mail.
• Attend a complimentary one hour drop-in class with K9 Bliss behaviorist Tammy Cowen.
• Annual Black Tie Grant Gala event with your dog (the dogs in formal wear) no host event.
• Enter the Who is The Tahoe Dog contest (open to the public and members).
• Special activities TBA.
How can I be more involved?
